Artist Statement – Park Soo Hwan My work explores the coexistence of music and photography. Starting as a musician before expanding into visual arts, my journey focuses on capturing the collision between temporality and instantaneity. The vibrations and blurred images in my work demonstrate the process of object deconstruction, leading to visual abstraction. When experiencing urban environments, we engage not only vision but also hearing, touch, and various other senses. The metronome serves as a crucial motif in my work. Its lateral movement becomes a tool for perceiving time and space, as well as a medium for reviving memories. I aim to capture the rhythm created by the speed and dissonance of modern cities. Ultimately, my work explores the boundary between ‘seeing’ and ‘unseeing,’ inviting viewers to discover sensations beyond the visual. I express this exploration through traditional Korean paper (hanji), seeking to harmonize Eastern spirituality with contemporary sensibility.
